They don't know how they got into the cube complex. Most of them do not know each other and come from different states in the USA. Some people get together quickly and travel as a group. With each cube, you can enter a different room via a kind of automatic door on each of the six sides.
As in the previous film Cube, several people wake up at the beginning of the film in a complex of futuristic, interconnected cubes with an edge length of about five meters.
